About Chemical Peels
Using the highest quality in chemical peel treatments, our office provides patients with choices for a medical-grade solution (such as salicylic, glycolic, trichloroacetic, and lactic acids) for a more radiant complexion. In our office,The Derm Lounge works to remove skin irregularities such as fine lines, wrinkles, scars, dry patches, hyperpigmentation problems, and more. Chemical peels remove dead or damaged skin cells by using a specific treatment on the skin that causes the oldest layer to slough off. When your skin recovers and starts to repair and rejuvenate itself, you will see a smoother, clearer complexion. A chemical peel facial is a great nonsurgical option for men and women and may be appropriate for the both the face and neck. If you desire luminous skin, call The Derm Lounge Med Spa in Dallas, TX today.
Variations of Chemical Peels
In our office, we offer chemical peels in a few strengths (light, medium, and deep chemical peels) to accommodate our patients' skin concerns and goals.
Light peels: You can receive a light peel during your lunch break and go right back to your normal routine all within the same hour. This type of peel will remove the outer layer of your skin (the epidermis), giving your facial features a more radiant appearance and smoother texture. We recommend that you schedule a light peel at least once a month for best results.
Medium-depth peels: This type of peel goes further into the skin and patients generally decide to have this type of facial treatment during an extended weekend. You may also want to ready yourself for increased discomfort during and about one hour following the treatment. Medium-depth peels are for patients who have heavier damage to their skin, like deeper lines and darker pigmentation problems to address.
Deep peels: The strongest of the three levels of peels is the deep peel, and it does require the longest recovery time. This is an aggressive treatment that may leave your face peeling, itchy, and swollen for a few weeks. Patients who have a deep chemical peel will have dark spots, sun damage, entrenched acne scars, and/or deep scars. Since this type of chemical peel is generally difficult to have without a numbing agent, we can provide you with a topical anesthetic as a part of your treatment.
Seeking the advice of a skin care specialist is the first part in the journey to smooth, healthy skin. Patients with fair skin tones are usually ideal candidates for a chemical peel but we will evaluate your skin during an examination in our office. We will also ask about your medical history before proceeding with a chemical peel for optimal results. Ideal chemical peel patients will also have visible issues with their skin, such as scaly patches, flaky skin, uneven pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, and more. Depending on the tone of your skin, we can suggest different levels of peels to meet your needs and concerns.
Chemical Peel Reviews
"I have been going to The Derm Lounge for almost a year now and I cannot say enough great things about this place! I have done IPL treatments and chemical peels with Dana and have seen a HUGE improvement in my skin. Less redness and less discoloration in my skin from the sun! I most recently saw Dana for lip injections after an injector at another Med Spa made my lips severely uneven and lumpy. She reached out to other injectors and used the resources she had to find she best solution for fixing them. I've also seen Tomorrow for a facial, AND LITERALLY the most relaxing experience ever! She was very knowledgeable and customized the facial just for my skin and I left glowing! She also sent me home with the Arcona skin Care line and I am constantly getting compliments on how good my skin looks. I absolutely love this place!"- E.J. / Yelp / Oct 18, 2017
"Beautiful spa, friendly, professional. I work in the beauty industry so I am picky about where I go and who touches my face. Dana is extremely knowledgable and is an incredible injector. I let her know that I get anxious at times when I'm having a procedure done, and she put me completely at ease and asked through out if I was comfortable and doing ok. I have had botox and chemical peels by Dana. I also picked up the best SPF and eye cream! I have sent my personal clients here knowning they are in the best hands."- A.T. / Facebook / Oct 01, 2019
Plan Your Procedure
- Procedure Recovery Location
On the day of your appointment, we will have you lying in a comfortable position to administer your treatment in one of our private treatment rooms. A team member will ensure the skin is cleaned prior to applying the personalized solution to the face and/or neck. We will brush the solution onto the skin and allow it to work for an appropriate length of time that will be determined in your chemical peel consultation. Then, we will wash the peel off your skin and apply the neutralizing agent on the designated area. Patients may want to bring sunscreen and a hat to wear outside following the treatment to avoid direct sun exposure.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Based on the type of chemical peel you receive, you should expect your skin to peel and itch for several days to two or more weeks. We will give instructions on how to treat your face during your chemical peel appointment. Please remember that no matter how badly your skin itches throughout the healing process, it's not a good idea to pull the skin off as this can create facial scarring.
