Candidates for IPL at The Derm Lounge Med Spa will have a combination of concerns with their complexion such as rosacea, sun damage, brown spots (hyperpigmentation), freckles, redness, or broken capillaries. Procedure Techniques
IPL generally takes about 20 – 30 minutes if no other treatments are performed during your appointment. To prepare for the IPL laser, your technician will wash and dry your skin before protecting your eyes with special laser shields. The IPL is performed with a handheld wand that will pass over the skin while emitting laser energy pulses. While many patients may have mild discomfort throughout the IPL, it's usually bearable given the short treatment length. Once the treatment is over, your complexion may be pink and swollen temporarily.

I'll admit, I live by yelp reviews however, whenever I decide to get a facial I want it now which means I have to go to Groupon to find the people that have same day openings. I've been living the Groupon facial life since I started getting facials so I really had no idea of what I was getting was good. Well after seeing Karen at the derm lounge, I realized Groupon facials are trash. Karen was amazing. She was fun to talk to and walked me through every single thing she was doing. I have massive pores and she cleaned those bad boys out to a level I didn't even know was possible! In addition to my Grand Canyon sizes pores I have rosacea and she surprised me with "wanting to try something". She hit me twice with the IPL and scared the bajesus out of me. It wasn't that bad though I was just being dramatic. Karen recommend I come back in 8ish weeks depending on my 15yr old breakouts which I appreciated considering my trash Groupon facials always said I needed to come every 3-4 weeks. Needless to say, my skin looks amazing and you get what you pay for. I'll definitely be back!
I can’t begin to describe how FAST and pain free their laser hair treatments are! My arms where done in less than 15 minutes! FABULOUS!! Highly Recommend! Oh and while you are there try out their EmSculpt machine! It’s a hoot!

There usually is no downtime associated with an IPL photofacial treatment, but you may leave our office with your complexion a little red and swollen. This will decrease naturally as the day continues — it may be concealed with cosmetics if you prefer. We advise you keep a healing cream on the skin's surface to minimize any irritation and promote healing. It may also help to use an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicine to help decrease swelling. Over the course of 2 – 5 days, the sun damage and other irregularities under the skin will rise to the surface and then start to flake away. It is necessary to protect your skin with sunscreen at all times after getting an IPL photofacial treatment and to not pick at your skin. While you will have some visible improvements after your first treatment, your complexion will obtain ideal results with multiple IPL treatments. Our team often suggests most patients get 3 – 6 sessions performed every 4 weeks at The Derm Lounge Med Spa.
